As an American, I follow politics afar — especially in GB. There is a great divide in England between north and south. An alarming amount of northerners there are unemployed cos a lot of the factories and classic trades have shut down and are no longer needed due to Thatcher’s financial revolution and the ushering in of the digital age ( digital age began to manifest in U.K. circa 1999). Consequently, there has been a considerable amount displacement and unemployment, and northern England has never really recovered since Thatcherism in the 80s/early 90s. Furthermore, the Covid pandemic has compounded the problem severely, and now suicide rates are through the roof. A lot of folk have had to take on more part-time jobs, remortgage their homes, or even sell their homes and move into social housing or back in with their parents. Fucking shocking! A buddy of mines from Blighty has told me he was made redundant and now works two jobs as a waiter and a bouncer. Sheesh! What a come down from his high paid IT job. The world is being culled presently, and I hope this god damn global reset will be worth it!
