Commissioners were discussing a rubber-stamp agreement, required by state law, for the county jail to hold inmates on behalf of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Those who came to the commission meeting thought that commissioners were instead discussing law enforcement cooperation agreements with ICE.
They believed that commissioners were trying to stop them from speaking on the matter.
It was made clear that there won’t be any speakers since the topic was deferred.
Ms. Ramos became disruptive, kept yelling and btw, wasn’t the only one arrested. Mr. Spicer was arrested as well. You cannot just go into a netting and start yelling and being disruptive especially about a different topic. The first amendment is not a carte blanche to disrupt anyone you like and any process at any time. It’s freedom of speech and not freedom of action.
BTW…….did any of you Bedwetters read the article ?
The right to free speech does not protect being disruptive or following the rules……
