@Aylana As I keep saying to anyone who will listen: there's no such thing as "flaming" anymore. It's gone. Done. A short chapter in a dusty long-forgotten tome on the history of the internets. Using that word in a comparative sense with today's forum ecosystem is pointless and can only lead to misapprehensions, confusion, and contributing to the chaotic mix of petty drama and crass insults that pass themselves off as tactical syntax among the few left who still rally to the tattered banner of a performance art that abandoned every stage years ago. This. Isn't. That. And trolling... meh. Never cared much for it anyway. Especially not as a goal unto itself rather than merely a tactic; one small implement in the toolkit of any competent "flamer". As for the state of your experience in forums today... ...why do you read things/people you already know won't please you? Why follow the squabbles and the vendettas if they bore you? Why immerse yourself in anything that makes you uncomfortable (in a bad way)? I can only relay what works for me and that's to be selective. Ignore the chaff and concentrate your attention on those precious seeds of entertaining interaction. Don't get dragged into mind-numbing or insipid tit-for-tats that only waste one's time. As Tywin Lannister was so fond of saying: "The lion doesn't concern itself with the opinions of the sheep." Remember this isn't performance art as you may have known it before. It's far more hyper-individualistic and conceited and vicious. It's not about the audience; it's about fulfilling some personal (often vacuous or malicious) desire. If you want better- create it. Lead by example. Improvise, adapt and overcome. Let go of the past. Take the current forum experience as it is and mold it to your liking; never settle for whatever crumbs the churlish and the plebeian deign to toss in your direction. Make *them* eat cake and either enjoy or choke on it. In conclusion my PM box is always open, for the purpose you stated or any other.
