This is why I'm convinced media is just evil. They influence peoples politics and that is what it is. There should be higher standards on anything calling itself news.
But to push covid fear is evil. And it impacts general health.
I didn't go to the ER for a kidney stone because I know they are clogged and under staffed because of Covid. Full of people who DONT need to be in the ER. You may be sick as fuck, but running to an ER is not always the best option. From all the Covid positive people who came into a MI ER last week...and people who think they have covid....NONE were admitted. Not one.
Those of you who think "better safe than sorry" and think it's best to focus on the severe cases and deaths? You doing this and supporting media doing this are helping MAKE people sicker and more panicky than nessesary. What happens when sick people who dont need the ER go to the ER? They are around other people who are going through various medical shit that makes them vulnerable to infections. You can get nosocomial infections.
And when regular people try using "medical language" like "mild covid" and they think that means it's not gonna feel like death because its "mild".....that's not what that means. When a doctor says "mild"? It just means you dont require much medical support. You can be bedridden for a week, so sick you feel like you are dying....and not require medical care and be considered medically mild.
Just like how when you hear "this might involve some mild discomfort" right before they do something that hurt like fuck? "Mild discomfort" means you dont need to be sedated or put under. You arent going to be severe ongoing pain. It doesnt mean whatever they are doing isnt gonna HURT.
Doctors rate an measure things based on how medically stable you are. Meaning how likely you are to die. "Mild" means you arent gonna die. That's it.
Those of you who downplay influenza as if it's a day or so of laying around.....ever actually had the flu? Like a medically confirmed case? The flu is a fucking nightmare. It will kick your ass. But you probably wont die.
This is Covid now. And it's not gonna go anywhere. We are stuck with it. Its endemic. It's not going away. Filtering out any public discourse and constant fear monger is horrifically BAD for public health. It's bad for people. Talking about it as if everyone who gets it is gonna be on a vent or end up dead is incredibly bad for people.
You guys are not helping pushing these kinds of narratives. The VAST majority of cases are NOT severe. We are all catching this thing. Its inevitable. So WHY are we wanting to terrify everyone?
Why cant we discuss ways of helping people cope and early treatments and things people can do at home while they are sick? Why the fuck is that so frowned on?
