I once played cards with a guy who had a X-Men #1 comic. Only problem is that the 'X-Men' logo was cut out!
I have X-Men #2 but no #1, Alticus.

Paid $100, now it's selling for $1000

Only way i'd consider buying #1 is if it was Steal, gotten out of a garage sale or get very lucky at an auction buy it a a bargain.

Collectibles is somethin' a person shouldn't pay too much for if at all possible @Alticus

Maybe 1 day I might get lucky and find an affordable #1 eh?

I had a store back in the late '90's. Had quite a collection of nice books. Sold all the keys. My big claim to fame was buying a Fantastic Four #1 for about 50 dollars in poor condition and have the Smithsonian archivist Susan Cicconi restore it to VF+. That cost about 600 bucks.

Sold it 10 years ago for about 8200, recently saw that copy sell for about 32k at a Heritage Auction. A VF 1 unrestored just sold for over a million.

Currently my most valuable comic is probably my VF copy of Captain America #1. I also have a bunch of odds and ends. Not really investment grade, but I love my Marvel Masterworks #1 1st edition which has all 38 Ditko Spider-Man's along with Amazing Fantasy #1.

I don't really buy or collect them any more because I guess I grew out of it. But it was a fun hobby.

Personally I have 5 pristine mint Action Comics #1. Prowler gave them to me.
