...and it looks like Czeckia are the ones who gifted it to them by injuring Canada's best player who probably could have made all the difference

Quit whining, Canadian loser!

USA! USA! USA!
Regardless of the outcome, I think what's wrong with the game in Canada is it's become way too expensive for working or middle class families to participate in now @Reggie_Essent

Back when I played it as a Kid, the town actually supplied children with hockey equipment so they could play the game. Or at least rent it out so it was affordable. But now the costs are thoudand$ of dollars making it prohibitively expensive for families on a budget. There was a proposal from a Canadian politician to provide subsidies for families so more children could participate in expensive sports like Hockey.

Unless they get the participation rate up in Canada again, the country might continue to slip. It's noticeable that Canada's 2 best players were Sidney Crosbie and Connor McDavid. Neither are that young anymore. Somehow, I think the averaqge of the US team was younger, particularly their star players.

Anyways, you look at the rosters and the players are White and usually come from well-to do families now.

Likewise, no secret that the best basketball players are Black or baseball players are Latino, because as kids they can afford to play those sports.

Canadian Hockey has go back to a time when a Kid with a branch woo played on a pond could get a start in the game, like Johnny Bower.

Interesting post, Joe. It is true that many sports can be prohibitively expensive. Golf and skiing come to mind. And can you imagine how much it costs if a kid wants to get into bobsledding?

In any case, the issue can't be solved by taxing the fuck out of people to subsidize poor Canadian children who can't afford hockey skates. If any kid or any color loves any sport, they will find a way. Subsidizing anything with taxpayer dollars just makes it suck. Just look at your health care system up there in Canucknadia?

Kids can still play on the pond for free, Senile @Joe.

It costs a lot to play at the rink. It costs a lot for the proper equipment. At the elite level the coaches get paid well (yes, even in divisions as young as 10U).

So what?

Joe's been infected with the envy-based Leftist Mind Virus.

Everything is unfair because there's rich people and if we could only get the government to take away all their riches, everything would be apple pie and sugar for everybody.

How do you think the USSR created all these Super Hockey Teams iin the 1970s-90s to compete with the NHL Lex @The Prowler ? The Soviet Government pumped billions into recreational and Olympic sports.

Likewise Hockey Development doesn't exist in a vacuum in Canada .

We have Hockey Canada which gets funding from the Federal Government.

So you're full of malarky Prowler, if you don't think governments have a hand in funding hockey in these countries.

Hockey like any form of high level organized sports is a Big Industry which the State has a hand in.

That did not address what I said and asked, Senile @Joe.

I know a lot more about Hockey Canada than you, you idiot. I played in leagues under the Hockey Canada umbrella and I was a Hockey Canada certified official.

You are all over the place, Senile @Joe. Like usual. Why does it matter if hockey is expensive to play and out of reach for many middle and lower class people? Why does it matter if Canada wins gold or not?
