German can be a difficult language! Informally you'd leave out the 'es', and simply use 'tut mir leid' for a simple apology.

Cool. I’m picking up the language quite easily since English is based off German. Also I took Afrikaans up as a second language in school back in the day. I’m learning about 4 languages at the moment. German is by far my favourite.

I spoke German until I was 5, which was the age that we enter Canadian Kindergarten here. It was at that point that English was the main theme, and the German side was sorta lost.

But with language, you never really forget. You remember phrases and meanings that are hard to translate over.

My uncle is German. He was a VW mechanic. He came over to Australia a few years back and I took him to a German car show. Then we had a Bavarian lunch of Pork Knuckle, Saurkraut and lashing of Weißbier. Hell yeah!
