I don't know Flynn's background, but I'm guessing Flynn comes from a hardcore "flaming" and I take that into account when I look at a poster.

When someone comes from a "troll" background and get super nasty, PI mining and doxxing, etc. that is more abhorrent, imo.

I think it’s the other way around. Trolls tend to be larrikens, whereas “flamers” as such are the vindictive type that go the PI route. That’s just my experience since I joined my first forum back in 2006.

Perhaps the answer isn't the type of online presence on forums, it's the individual.
