This is why universal suffrage needs to be abolished and voting should be restricted to tax paying citizens who can pass a competency exam showing they know the role and function of government in the US and then per cycle exams to show they understand major national and geopolitical issues and policies.

A republic is a form of democracy as it is practiced here in the United States. We are a Democratic Republic, which anyone who isn't brain dead knows, is a form of democracy. A direct democracy is not the only form of democracy and in fact would be an impossible form in a nation of millions. That is why we elect through a democratic process (which it is until dicktater wannabies and their minions try to subvert the process) representatives in a branched government.
