hi Lil, i got back 2 days ago and still recovering
Did you hike the Appalachian trail?
Yrp, over thousand miles. I lost 28 lbs doin it lol

Wow!! Over 1000 miles!!! That is a shit tonne of hiking!!!!!!

How did it work using crocs? Were your feet okay? How many miles did you walk each day?
@Lily some times none, other times 12.

Okay, so some days you did not hike at all...some days you went 12 miles.

12 miles could be pretty easy or pretty difficult, depending on the terrain.

But in Crocs!??!!?!? WTF? So those fancy hiking shoes and hiking boots and hiking socks that I bought so I do not ruin my feet on long hikes....they were just a marketing gimmick? I could have just worn.....Crocs!?!?!?

How long did you hike?
couple weeks. kept thinking 'pain is weakness leaving the body' and then i kept going

Wait.

What!?!?!?

You were gone...a couple of weeks?

And you hiked over 1000 miles?!?!?!?

1000 divided by 14 days....is.....an average of......

Over 71 miles per day!!!!

"Someone"

Is full.

.. Actually, the three states mentioned, NJ, NY, PA total just under 400 miles and are the hardest terrain along the 2200 miles of the AT. It would certainly seem like much longer. I'm well familiar with the section(s), which is my home area. Posers and the weak do not fair well here. My advice to the board denizens - do not attempt the challenge that Jeannie undertook.

She also said they did the hike over a couple of weeks.

. People take months to travel the full length. Generally starting in the spring in Georgia before the summer heat and working north finishing in summer or autumn. There is another mode in which people section hike the trail over a longer period achieving the total length say over a period of 2 years or more. You know, not thru-hiking the entire length in one go. Thru-hikers kind of scoff at that.
. These days people carry light at about 16 lbs, as opposed to say the 40 I would carry on a hike in camp, and replenish food at pre-set intervals. It's a very rough process. Many of the hikers look like zombies when you meet them - max is about 18 miles per day usually between shelters (which are 3 sides wood structures).
. The trail can be very dangerous to solo (Jeannie talked about soloing but also that "we" did this or that) particularly for women. I've met young and fit men who got laid up for weeks with injuries, and there are also misfits and full on crazies out there.

I don't care if she hiked 6 days, 2 weeks, or 2 years, 20 miles a day or two miles a day.

I think she hiked and enjoyed it. Did she embellish, maybe? Is she trolling the length of her hike? Maybe...

It doesn't really matter. Jeannie's a good sort and likes to have a little fun.

That's okay with me.

As for the Appalachian trail, I do find it, the Continental divide trail and the Pacific Crest trail fascinating. It's extreme hiking with lots of logistics, climate and terrain that hikers have to deal with. Cool stuff.

To actually get credit, one needs to start in Seattle, WA the beginning. Any other starting point does not count.

"The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), a 2,650-mile trek, typically takes four to six months to complete. This timeframe allows for an average of 20-25 miles per day, with rest days in trail towns to resupply and recover. Some ultrarunners can complete it in under 100 days.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Average Thru-Hike:

Most hikers aim for a 4-6 month timeframe.

Daily Mileage:

This translates to an average of 20-25 miles per day, with rest days factored in.

Fastest Known Time (FKT):

Some individuals, often experienced trail runners, can complete the PCT in under 100 days, with records set in the 40-50 day range.

Timing:

Starting too late in the season (especially northbound) can lead to snow and closure of higher passes, while starting too early can mean excessive heat and difficult desert conditions.

Factors that can affect the time it takes to hike the PCT include:

Fitness Level:

Individuals with higher levels of fitness and experience can hike longer distances each day and potentially finish faster.

Weather Conditions:

Snow, wildfires, and extreme temperatures can slow down hikers or force them to skip sections of the trail.

Hiking Style:

Some hikers prefer to take more rest days and enjoy the scenery, while others push for longer daily distances.

Injuries and Illness:

Physical setbacks can impact the overall timeframe.

Ultimately, the "best" time to hike the PCT is subjective and depends on individual preferences and circumstances."

Hey Flynntard

It's about an APPALACHIAN TRAIL hike that Jeannie did.

You want to pretend to be an expert on constitutional law when you can't tell one hiking trail from another, moron.

Hey Cow, I ever said I was talking about The APPLACHIAN TRAIL.

Get ready! The hooves of hate will be thunderous.
