. Very few countries don't have an official language, Lotus, and in those one language is so dominant that it isn't necessary to promote cohesion or ease of government function with regard to communication, forms etc.

This is a man who’s been helped his entire life. His oldest sister did his school homework. He paid someone to take his SATs. Roy Cohn and then Michael Cohen served as aides for him. Ghostwriters wrote his books. Even one of his three wives worked for him and was better at dealmaking than he was. His niece almost became a ghostwriter for the sequel to “The Art of the Deal” for him, but as that niece stated, it was always “Too much and never enough” and then she eventually wrote a book that is critical of him. Well, I’m glad a majority of us said “This is too much ; enough!”.

I saw you mention that Sir Regg wanted to take us back to 1913....which is bad.
So lets look at what was when the country was founded then see if we want to base arguments of what is good for today on what was in 1776 and a little 'bout what was not.
Founded upon economy based upon slave labor.
Not founded upon women having rights equal to men's (meaning white men), and certainly not upon brownies being equal to whites.
.I'll just stop there because there are a many of things that did or didn't exist in a nation of 2.5 million people, virtually all of those that mattered under the law being white men.
Our founding documents are in English (French and German were contenders but not opted for).
. 250 years ago, unlike today, there were not 200 languages spoken here (excluding native languages), government was small, people spread out. Communication was not the issue it is today between government and people, or in sophisticated businesses, or in schoolhouses. I find it particularly bizarre that one may think this country a melting pot but not wish to promote inclusivity - the inclusivity that common language (whatever others may be privately spoken), and the social cohesiveness that being able to express oneself and be understood permits.
Let's not go back to 1776, or 1913. Let's think about what makes good sense now.
