French singer Juliette Gréco (93) passed away

French singer Juliette Gréco has died at the age of 93. Her family has announced this.

The French chansonniere and actress became famous for her renditions of lyrics by Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre and Jacques Prévert. In 2002 she was made an officer in the French Legion of Honor.

A well-known song by the French icon is Déshabillez-moi (Undress me). She suffered a stroke in 2016, the year she also lost her only daughter. She then stopped making songs. “I miss it terribly. My reason for living is to sing, ”she recently stated in an interview. During her farewell tour in 2015, she visited Carré theater in Amsterdam.

She died today, surrounded by her family, in her home in Ramatuelle in the South of France. "Her life was extraordinary," the family said.
