Whoever said it's 4.6% is going to be standing on the unemployment line, that's for sure.
. Hasn't been this high since the last time Trump tanked the economy.
The only sector adding jobs is healthcare as more people continue to get sick and die of stress related illnesses.

The unemployment rate is now at its highest level since September 2021.

that can feel impossible to break into. Tuesday’s report suggested those conditions persisted toward the end of the year.

Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had expected a gain of 50,000 jobs. The healthcare sector, which has fueled job growth this year, added 46,000 positions for the month.

The economy is heading south, but at least that one trans girl in your state can't be on the Badminton team any longer. So you have that going for you, which is nice.

You & @Holy Holliday ! have gotta regular 'President Donald Hoover' @Admin.

Remember how Trump said he didn't want to be the next Herbert Hoover?

And all those tariffs from Smoot Hawley in the 1930s destroyed the US economy just like Trump's are today.

I'll go on a limb and say this has a lot more to do with companies adopting AI and laying off everyone they can...
The US government should tax those bastards and take away the tax breaks they received under the big beautiful bill. make them give the money back.

If they're not gonna use that money to create jobs, improve the local communities, then these corporations should fuck off and pay the price.

I agree, Joe

I've been seeing some older folks saying this is just like when computers became popular

A small office used to have someone to type, another person to deal with files and documents, another one to do banking and other errands and so on.

Later, one person could do the job of two and when the Internet became popular, four

But Ai is different because you need a lot less people

And the old question "Who's going to support these companies if nobody's working?" is easily answered

Companies that are worth more than a trillion dollars don't need more money

What they need is power and dominance. Their major shareholders and executives don't need people, they just need to make sure their power and dominance is never threatened

And that's where they headed.

Let's see ... Holliday, a retired dork, starts a thread about the poor jobs outlook.

Then Admin., a retired Navy Laundry Specialist, piles on because Trump and has to work in a dig about transexuals.

Then Old Joe, a retired Canadian pensioner, adds some Trump hate videos to keep his mind off losing that great deal he could have had on some Revenue Stamps that might have netted him thousands.

Then Reggie, also retired, popped in to mock and ridicule the three retired Leftist Shitbags whining about jobs they don't need to find.

Another Day at the Bastard Factory Retirement Home. Tapioca pudding with lunch today.

I'm sayin'! I know the jobs market sucks right now. I have friends who've been out of work for 7 months and can't find shit. Not sure how much AI might have to do with it, but it might be a factor depending on the skill sets.

I'm glad I'm lucky enough to be able ease back and not have to stress it since I have enough to see me through to my end.

I think rather than 'soak the rich' an alternate way to restructure the system is to incentivize tax breaks.

So if a wealthy individual or company actually creates jobs invests in improving the local communities they get tax breaks.

And this could extend to middle income earners as well. If they contribute their money to badly needed infrastructure upgrades, theyd also get tax breaks. in addition they would get more tax free contribution room in their retirement accounts.

I support tax breaks but the local community & the workforce have to get something back in return.

Clearly the current setup in the US isn't working and even Conservatives have remarked that its creating a K Shaped economy.

Self employment should be encouraged.

Even as side hustles or part time home based business.

If governments & corporations won't need as many workers moving forward then people have to create their own employment however meager the additional income.

Actually I'm still working @Reggie_Essent

I plan to retire from my job in a couple of months after which I'll be 'officially retired' according to the Government's definition of it. Then I'll be getting a full pension. But until it arrives I'm still in the workforce Reggie.

I'll retire but I still plan to do something part time even do a side hustle business. That's why I was asking if yer still working because I still plan to after officially retiring

I've got some retirement savings but watching others who've retired, their savings usually don't last unless a person works part time eh.

I got one friend who had a government job and job now he gets a generous pension in addition to the government one. So he must get at least $4000 a month clear. I confess I'm not in that position so I'll likely have work pT to hang onto my retirement savings.

However I'm not complaining cuz many family members had to work hard ft right into their mid 70s. So compared to them I'm on easy street.

I feel grateful because many people I know will never get to retire or take a break & will probably work to the end of their lives when they're in their 70s or 80s
