Do you know why they are here as invasive?

Because years and years and years ago, cats started hanging out around humans because we unwittingly created the perfect hunting grounds for them. They wanted rats, we wanted rat free grain, and a relationship was formed.

Cats saved humans from starvation by killing the rats and pests that were destroying our crops. This is why cats were worshipped in Egypt. They were seen as gifts from the Gods and harming a cat in ancient Egypt would get you the death penalty.

And if they had more cats in England the plague would have been far less intense.

Cats were spread around globally because they were "employed" on ships to protect food supplies from pests. They also worked on ships during the war.

Cats can see the spirit world around us, sense danger long before we do, can regulate your entire blood pressure with their purring, and alert you to cancer or low blood sugar. They are the ONLY species that domesticated themselves and evolved to be beloved companions to humans.

I dont know how anyone can dislike cats but I do know the ones who are the loudest about their cat hatred are always the ones who fall the hardest in love with a cat. The right cat comes along and just wrecks them emotionally. My man has talked to me about his cat hate for years. It took one....ONE year of my cats breaking him down and now you can often find him kicked back with a cat loafing on his chest saying "nah leave her. Its okay".

Yes they are an invasive species technically. Which is why im HUGE on not allowing them outside. They are companion animals.....not part of our natural ecosystem here in the states or where you are.

After my work out this morning, I ended up having a two hour long conversation with ChatGPT about cat cognition and self recognition in mirrors.

When I hold Prudey in front of a mirror, she knows thats me in the mirror. We have tested this. If i do something weird in the mirror, she will whip her head around and look at me. So on some level she understands thats me in the mirror...but not the "real" me. So i really wanted to know if she understands thats me...does she also understand she is the black and white furry thing im holding?

So I ended up reading all about scientists testing animals to see which ones demonstrated self recognition and why the test can ONLY show if the do, but cannot determine they dont (some animals may not care enough to respond to the test but still know that's them).

Some cats treated their reflection like it was another cat....but that doesnt mean they dont figure it out after a few minutes so.

I think she does know :D
