According to Priority Tire, here are the states with the highest rates of fatal crashes per 100,000 residents in 2023:
Notice anything common about these?
  1. Mississippi: 24.9
  2. Wyoming: 24.7
  3. New Mexico: 20.7
  4. South Carolina: 19.5
  5. Arkansas: 19.4
  6. Alabama: 19.1

    Massachusetts had the lowest fatal crash rate at 4.9 per 100,000 residents. New York followed at 5.7, while Rhode Island, New Jersey and Hawaii each recorded a rate of 6.5.
