. I'm by far the most competent person here, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt if you can explain to Duhv and Regtardo why a Republic and Democracy are not mutually exclusive systems, and why Liberalism is not either fascism or communism.

The US is a constitutional republic. The democracy part is solely for elections of representatives who must not break the compact of the Republic (which almost all eventually do, one way or another). If our democratically elected reps violate the basis for our nation, then the democracy aspect is moot anyway.
Liberalism violates the compact. All liberals are cockroaches and most conservatives are as well because they're conservative in the sliding scale towards liberalism... (free bread and circuses).

The founders new this which is why they created a system which allows amendments to the constitution and a judicial system which allows for interpretation of law.
