Would not shock me to learn there are actually people who think a libertarian and classical liberal are the same thing when the founders embedded responsibilities to society and fellow citizens in their philosophy which libertarians deny. The fact is, libertarians are just one short slide step from anarchists where American Liberalism is founded upon communal responsibility and action (for the common good - general welfare). Libertarians (right wingers generally also) are selfish beyond words, the only welfare they strive for is their own. You could look it up.
