I have moar respect for some guy selling hot dogs from a push cart on the street than I do for any person employed by the State because that guy selling hot dogs on the street creates wealth, and not one single government "worker" at any level, anywhere, ever, has ever created a single penny of wealth to benefit their fellow citizens.

Thing is, any US president who has tried to shrink the size of the US military always gets his agenda usurped by his successor, Rennel.
Eisehnower tried to cut back its size, but was overrriden by his successor.
And clinton did the same only to find the Military Industrail complex to come back with a vengeance under W Bush.
Even Trump wanted to downsize somewhat. but his desire to cut back your country's military commitments was met with hostility by war hawks/whores in the Pentagon. They appear to want war 24/7 non stop on time all the time. As far as they're concerned a bloated military is a good military.
Joe, please refer to poast #80 where I say: " ... States can only grow, and can never retract, and there comes a time in the life of a State when too great a percentage of the populace subsists upon the wealth confiscated from the productive in society that create all the wealth in the first place."
It can become quite tiresome to repeat oneself over and over again when the point has already clearly been stated.

If you have anything to add that might bely that simple statement of truth, then make it, but don't make me explain again and again and again what I have already said.
One thing I'll say, that you definitely won't agree with - is that most of us in the USA or Canada don't pay enough tax for many of the services we get in return. If we had to pay for what these services actually cost, we'd pay lot more tax than we do now.
I will agree with you slightly, that the lower classes in our nations, especially Canada, don't pay enough for the services they get in return, and many want more yet are unwilling to accept the burden which goes along with it. Free healthcare for example
The government in power here is talking about introducing a guaranteed national income.
But then they expect to pay little or no taxes to get such benefits in return. How we can afford it is beyond me.
Likewise, in the United States, the wealthy want a powerful army to protect their overseas investments to keep their investments profitable but then want to pay minimal taxes to keep it going. They want the police to protect their neighborhoods and property, but don't want to pay the taxes to hire more policemen.
So in both cases I've cited, it leads to deficits. Both groups, rich or poor, want theirs without sacrificing in return it takes to have them. Both groups want their own version of entitilements.
So if you want to go to shithole countries where the rich don't pay any tax, be my guest.
But then be prepared to hire your own private army Or pay someone to fix your streets or street lighting, whatever. If you need to see the doctor, you pay to see a private doctor because in those places, there's no national health insurance. Isn't that the meaning of Libertarianism? You pay for everything yourself out of your own pocket.
Anyways, I think ya'd find after a while that this kind of arrangement would be very expensive.
