Today she announced that she could see herself marrying a Portuguese guy.

That made my day. Imagining myself with Portuguese grandbabies! There are a lot of really gorgeous Portuguese men.

Actually, I made the thread because I was so tickled by my daughter's comment.

I need to work now on encouraging her to spend enough time here to find someone! And introducing her to as many young men as possible when she does come next.

I've got a friend who's moving there next year, he works for a multinational that has offices in Portugal and he was lucky enough to find a job with them.

But the US is still the most favored destination. I've been seeing so many ads for visas these days, it's not a surprise. And many of them are human trafficking groups which use the visa trap to attract people without having problems with the law.

But in most cases, they'll tell you you have no chance of getting a visa and try to convince you to sell everything you have to go to the US

20k dollars is the minimum these days.

Why would inferior third worlders want to come to such a hateful and racist nation as the USA? We were founded on slavery and the exploitation of brown people by White Supremacists, after all. Just ask any Prog like Lotus or Admin.

That's not what I said

To get a visa here these days, you need to have a good job and prove that you have money to visit to the US. You need to show that there's no good reason for you to stay in the US.

So these people will ask to see your papers and if they see you don't stand a chance of getting a visa, they'll tell you straight away and then "refer" you to someone who can get you in the US.

If you decide to try to get the visa, all they do is sending your documents to the US visa emitting offices in Rio or São Paulo.

If you don't get it, many times they give your money back, unless they tell you don't stand a chance.

But usually, people who can get the visa go to other "less shady" businesses, like travel agencies.

What is funny is that most of the people that overstay their visa these days are white privileged young progs. I see them in social networks all the time, talking shit about Brazil's current federal government, while living in places like Portland, Austin, Boston and Miami.

I guess it's much harder for a Brazilian than a Canadian to get into the US, eh?

Personally I'd rather spend my tourist dollars in Brazil or Portugal.

They're even making it more difficult for us.

Only reason a Canadian goes to the States is for business, shopping at Macy's or to buy cheaper gas, cigarettes or a bottle of milk.

But I'd rather go somewhere else these days. Other than a few gems like Hawaii, there's not much else to see in the US. If we're gonna spend 30% more with a higher US dollar better be woth it eh.
