Actually, I'd like to go back to California one day Prowler.

But probably not San Francisco as it looks over developed and overpopulated now.

Last time I was there Northern California was beautiful, eh?

I miss my home base. No way I could duplicate my lifestyle there, now.

California is not for every one and only thing wrong is high taxes - - - - - -
It cost to live in one of the best states -
All of my family is within 100 miles of me -

When I see those videos you posted about nasty reptiles in Costa Rica suddenly I'm not that interested in visiting there.

Come on Joe. You might see one in the bush, never in town. To me it’s the giant orange and green Iguanas that startle me. I’ll be out in the garden doing something and there he is. Camouflaged and still. I’ve got one that must be 8 feet long. They are very gentle tho.

One thing about having cold winters is that it keeps the reptile and insect size down.

Even those from tropical countries have told me that & would agree with you. I think some prefer the colder climates for that reason.

Northern California north of sfran seems like the perfect climate. Not too hot or cold or large reptiles walking around.

Taxes are so high on everything in Canada that I don't think California could be worse than ours. Moving there would probably feel like a savings & a bargain to a Canadian.

Federal & provincial sales tax comes out to 12% where I live. In some other provinces it's 15% or more.

It is still beautiful.

Northern California isn't quite the Pacific Northwest but it's not SF or LA either. So it's a nice hybrid blend. That's what I like about it.

Plus it's really close & accessible to Vancouver. Same distance as a drive to Calgary. Nicer too.

Given the choice between the 2 I 'd rather drive to N Cal.

Same distance as a drive to Calgary.

I can get to Pigeon Forge or Nashville in about the same time. And stop at a lot of way cooler places along the way. Life in B.C. must suck.

Where do you live Prowler?

Southern Ontario?

Trouble with that part of the country is you need to go to Florida to get some warmth and sunshine during the winter.

We can just drive down and in less than a day we're in the beaches in California by suppertime. Not too interested in living in the snow again. Northern Alberta was really cold, eh.

Depends where you live. Pic below is just a few miles away from me. People come to this region from all over the world for its natural beauty and small town charms. I have no desire for big city life anymore. I figure if people fly halfway around the world to visit here, I'm pretty lucky to be able to live here!

Google Maps says I can get to Tampa in 20 hours, which means about 15 hours if I take the Camaro.

Way faster than you can get to Southern California in a stolen limo.

It depends upon where but it is true San Francisco truly has because an actual shit covered hell scape. With put of control crime, used hypodermic needles every where, and homeless encampments every where. That last bit because they have decriminalization open drug use, stopped enforcing public safety laws, and have a Democrat monoculture which promotes open drug abuse without consequences. They also pay drug addicts to be drug addicts so they come from far and wide for the free gibs.

Top that off with allowing them to live off of organized shoplifting and, well, you have a perfect storm of liberal dysfunction.

That's a long way to Florida for ya Prowler!

So maybe yer in New Brunswick/Maritimes ?

In about 1/2 that time we're in California.

Seattle is about 175 miles south of Vancouver. Portland another 150. California Border another 300? So the California coastline is doable in a half a day. It's like going from BC to Alberta only a lot more interesting. Worth the drive.

Actually, now that we're on the subject, I might do it in the spring. A round trip is actually doable in a day of driving.

Kinda strenuous tho. Best to take yer time enjoy the scenery eh.

I suppose SF has gone downhill since I last went there. SO Cal too? It was very dreamy back in the 90s. Cheap too.

But now you mention it, SF did seem a bit scummy and seedy in parts 20 years ago. I think it was beginning it's downward spiral.

. I remember Candlestick Park. That was so interesting cuz it looked a mirage as I drove in from San Jose. It was painted red with an oval ring on it and the fog was coming in.

Done this trip plenty of times! It'll take you about 10 hours to hit the California border if you travel the I5, which is the quickest way. Los Angeles would then be another 11 or so from there.

Though if I was in a car I'd certainly travel the coast highway instead, which would take you quite a bit longer, but well worth it for the scenery.

Yeah it was about 10 hours & suddenly the landscape completely changed. It was dry, cool and all these Redwood trees suddenly appeared. Like something out of a dream. They musta been prehistoric trees when the wooly mammoths & the camels roamed North America.
