Grab it by the back legs, squeeze one leg around the lower leg/foot as hard as you can (to make sure you keep a grip), and stick your thumb on your other hand up its anus and then grab around the tail if you can (but keep the thumb up the anus). It will get the dog to let go and if you keep both back feet off the ground you should be able to control him.

We have BSL here that prevents us owning pitbulls .. I absolutely love this breed, one of the most loyal of dog breeds and has been proven time and time again that this breed will stand its ground , tooth and nail sacrifice its own life for its family..

Oh I dont like it either. I think if people have a dog like a pit they should have to have it properly trained.
I hate to say this but a lot of the incidents with pits mauling kids and other dogs is STILL on the owner. Not the dogs. If you get a pet....its your responsibility to know everything you need to know about that particular pet and be prepared for.
I think pits can be the best dogs. I'm not slamming the breed. But people need to understand pits are not the same as a golden retriever and their training and safety measures need to be customized to that breed.
Some psychopathic wack job adopting pits off craiglist to have them put to sleep, and going on some unhinged vigilante rant accusing her readers if being sociopaths if they disagree with her is really more a testimony of the scum that frequents craigslist. Dont give away fucking free animals on the internet ffs! There are psychos like this woman. Honestly I hope she gets bit.

You said you would hit and bite a pitbull. That would do nothing but possibly make him a little more aggressive. It might work with some dogs, but not a pitbull.
Controlling their hind legs is essential as that is where they get most of their mobility. Their feet are a bit of a weak spot. And if you want to get them to release a bite, you need to give them pain and you need to startle them. A thumb up the butt will do that. Not much more will.
If it is your dog, and it trusts you, you can work near the mouth to get them to release a bite. But I would not recommend that if it is not your dog who trusts you.

So I witnessed a pit latch onto another dog and the pit AND other dog owner were full fisted punching the pit. No effect. The other dog owner got his hand close to the pit and when it went for another bite, I saw it get a pinch of skin on the top of the dudes hand. He ripped away and I saw the skin tear out and leave a hole in his hand which exposed the tendon before the blood started to flow. At that point, they tried to drown the pit with beer poured down its nose and mouth with the dogs head up.....it worked and the pit released.

I could see that working. Never tried it. You would want to make sure to get control of the pitbull right after, or have it somehow contained before getting it to let go. If it has a collar you can tie a leash to a tree or secure it some other way, then get it on his collar....all before getting him to release his bite. Then you just have to get everyone clear of him once he lets go.

I was about 21 at the time and a bit shocked by the entire event. I was a spectator through the whole event. If it were me today, I probably would have shot the dog. Not even gave 2 fux. Witnessing the lock on that bite was something to see.

It is important that pitbull owners know that their dog is capable of doing a lot of damage if it attacks. That is the part of "It is the owner, not the dog." that I agree with. Being an owner of a pitbull is much different than being the owner of most other breeds. As a pitbull owner, you may have to accept that no matter what you do, your dog is a danger to anyone outside of it's close family. And if that is the case, you need to keep control over your dog at all times when other people are around. Pitbulls can have this natural aggression towards other animals and/or people.
The people who mean the dog could be a sweet, love-everyone type of dog when they say "It is the owner, not the dog." are often clueless. Yeah, some shitty owners can turn potentially sweet, loving dogs into asshole dogs. But some dogs have a natural aggression in their genes and absolutely nothing an owner does can get that dog to be sweet with strangers.
People like LettuceBrain who call themselves "pitbull lovers" who think they can get every pitbull to be one of the sweet ones are the same people who will say "He has never done anything like that before!!!" after their dog just killed another animal or took a chunk of flesh out of a human - or worse. There are always signs, but these people refuse to see them.
One thing I think is important to keep in mind is that if you come across a dog fight and a pitbull has a bite on another dog, you cannot just assume that the pitbull was the one who initiated it. Dog fights can happen, even if owners try to intervene in time, especially at dog parks. Often a pitbull will be blamed for a fight when he did not instigate it, but only defended himself. You should not blame a dog just because he won the fight.

I love all dog breeds I'm a dog person for sure but I would not trust a pit bull alone with a child or small animal anymore than I would a python or crocodile. But yes this woman is a horrible person for doing this.

Personally, I have a German Shepherd and I know damn well it'll bite if cornered by a stranger. When I take it in for shots, I drug it, and then I personally muzzle and subdue the dog while its getting shots and blood drawn. Last time, it fought hard. I dont think the dog understood my words, but I had myself wrapped around it, and started squeezing, I said out loud, "dog, this can be just as fukin hard as you want it to be." Finally, she gave up and just gave out a steady growl for the rest of the exam. The vet and the assistant were all "WTF, over?" They hadnt ever seen an owner subdue their animal like that. I'm not shitting, I'd have personally squeezed that fukin dog to death if thats what it took to keep control of it, and I love that spoiled motherfucker to death. The dog figured out what the fuck was up.
