I will be posting videos/articles about racial strife and hopefully racial reconciliation on this thread.
I will start with Isabel Wilkerson author of Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent
One of the things I learned from this video addresses an important issue in the Black community, the role of family and how it was destroyed. In English law, at the founding of this nation, a child's status was tied to its father. In the slaveholding US, this was changed. A slave woman, who had children, had her offspring's status tied to her. She was a slave, so was the child (even if the child's biological parent was white). It was not free. Father's were disregarded by the State.
We have official government policy that has repeatedly undermined the status of family in the Black community.
