I am sure the CCP will try to rope in NK. Probably Burma, Loas, and Cambodia too. Vietnam would likely oppose them but given geography Vietnam will have a real hard time resisting more then 6 months. I doubt that Covid will be a massive deal. Yes, everyone will get infected but, again, a 99.96% survival rate and the average age of the person who dead is 80. So elderly people will die but, given the global food shortage which is coming and that NK is food insecure at the best of times, the dictator might just decide fewer useless elderly people around eating limited food the better.

I mean the Kims aren't exactly known as humanitarians. Expect the 2-3 million political prisoners to all get starved to death too. Heck, malnourished probably will have a worse time with covid infections and die before starvation gets them.

The good news is due to sea conditions and weather invasions can only happen in either April or October, the massive build up of forces would be easily seen so a surprise attack is not possible, and there are only 13 landing beaches on the whole island. Sure, air assault can also be used but those helicopters and planes would be highly vulnerable.

The US and allies need to bulk up Taiwanese forces with anti-air, man portable systems, lots of rifles and ammo (enough for 20 million people), many more fighter planes, and anti-ship missiles.
