@Blurt
I started Bosch last night...binged several episodes. It is a good series, not quite as good as The Wire, but it's solid. Thanks for the recommendation.
You're welcome, Lil.
Yeah, I find the series is well cast and the ensemble chemistry is top notch. It was good to see some familiar faces from
The Wire even though it took me a while to warm up to Jamie Hector as a good guy precisely because of his turn as Marlo in
The Wire (in which he was excellent). Last time I'd seen Titus Welliver was in
Lost.
Something that makes the novels on which the series is based so interesting (to me, anyway) is the fact that the city of Los Angeles itself is one of the main characters in the stories. I think Welliver managed to make this come through in the series.
It's strange reading the novels for the first time
after having watched the series; Connelly sort of took different story strands and plotlines from his various Bosch novels--and I just finished
The Closers, number 11 in the series of novels--and combined them in certain episodes of the TV series. It works, though, despite the differences.
I've always wanted to visit L.A. and now that desire is even more pressing, for having watched/read Bosch.
Maybe, as a California resident, you see things differently but I'm glad you're enjoying the series all the same.
