For those of you that didn't know. The Concacaf Gold Cup is happening, so is the Club World Cup. The USA is represented in both categories. On a side note, they're using Lumen Field as one of the venues for the World Club Cup. It was either this or Vegas. I chose Vegas. Though I will say going to games across the United States sounded fun.
Anyways...The Seattle Sounders are in the FIFA World Club Cup. This is huge for American Soccer, having an American club team compete against some of the best club teams in the world was unheard of 20 years ago. With that being said, Seattle playing in Seattle in their opening match against Athetico Madrid, loses the match 3-1. In their second game against Botofogo the again lose 2-1. That guarantees the Sounders no trip to the second round.
As for the Gold Cup, the U.S. Men's Team faired better than the Sounders by routing Trinidad & Tobago by a score of 5-0 in their opener. In their second game against Saudi Arabia, the USA sqeaked by with a one nil win. Good luck, they have one more group game and have already qualified for the second round. Yay!
