I think they must play to a metronome or backing track and it is all put together in a studio.

So many people thought all that recorded stuff was played live through the Internet during the shutdown. Even a split second delay would throw everything off.

I think there must be some kind of software that would allow everyone to play to a click track or backing track and have it all sent to a location for it all to be editing together and then have the music put out with a small delay....but for them to play together like a live band would with no track and just hearing each other.....impossible over the Internet.

Jackson Brown sounds awesome.
I did that during covid. We used zoom and one of the players had mixing software.

I found a video of John McLaughlin doing that during covid and it was excellent.

So when you played, did you hear the other instruments?

Just like if you were in the same room, playing to the same beat together?

yes. there was no delay that I recall. I had a light metronome and the pther players were using something as well. All the other instruments came thru the headphones in real time/

That is so weird.

I have been on many Zoom call and other VoIP calls and tried to count together 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4....and it never stays together because any slight delay will fuck it up.

I even tested that with a user here (Blazor) when he suggested that we could have a jam.

And I mean, I did it a lot of times....

Just a small delay will cause it all to be off....and a total mess.

But, hey, if you say it happened, then I totally believe you.

I dont remember what we used. one of the band members had the software and everything had to be synced before we could play together. That took a couple hours, everything was off at first. The guy who ran everything had to set it up first. We used our laptops and headphones after everything was synced and it was pretty seamless after he figured it out. There were a couple of times where we were playing when stuff fell out of sync and then we had to stop and start over.

It is just a fact.

You can setup a Zoom call if you would like and we can all join to demonstrate what I said.

We do not even have to try to play instruments....just try to count together.....it would sound like this....

Whatever you say, boss. we didnt use Zoom.

I think he used Squadcast or Zencaster. It was years ago and I didnt do the studio stuff. I was just a player.
