It says on the news (mainstream news anyway) that Trump said he was going to take Greenland whether they like it or not? How does he do that?!

I think the USA is willing to expand their military presence in Greenland to defend and control the land and shipping lanes. But USA needs to get a good ROI. And that would be through rights to the natural resources.
I laughed out loud when I read that some Greenland leader said something like "USA is free to build more military bases here, and they are welcome to bid on mining contracts."
In other words "You are free to protect us, but get nothing in return."
That is how it worked with politicians like Obama and Biden who were happy to make these deals at the expense of USA (as long as they got their kickbacks), but Trump is making deals to benefit USA.

Greenland will be under USA control very soon.
It’s as it was, only with a renegotiated contract, it was all technical, something about the wording not allowing U.S to do as they please with the military
