Trout is "OK" if properly prepared. Don't fuck it up. I prefer to eat something that walked on land and doesn't smell like corruption and death, but there's no accounting for taste.

I keep everything simple and to the point. Butter, onions, garlic, the fish. That's all. People get too fancy with the cooking. It's just food. Don't want to take too much time away from more important things.

Fish reminds me of this time I stepped on a dead animal while hiking through the woods. The dead animal goo got smeared all into my leather boots and I couldn't get the stink out for nothing. I had to toss the boots.

Fruit - it is not only about catching the fish, it is the art and science of catching them, and the being in a beautiful place getting a good workout. 2 hours hiking rough trails and rocky banks, or wading through current on the river rocks. 4+ hrs of fishing. The best thing my parents ever did for me is tell me that if I hit an animal in my vehicle, put it out of its misery asap, and bring it it home. We'd dress it and let it hang for a bit. Free meat is ace... but my cousin got TB in the early nineties from venison, so we extra cooked it.
