So, the local jOak known as Fat @Lily has been going on and on and on about my "grandpa shoes".

She, surprise surprise, cannot control herself and is cluttering threads all around the board with her childish nonsense, making all kinds of personal attacks outside of Meltdown.

So, I am bringing this to where it belongs. Meltdown.

grandpa sneakers

dress like grandpa's

old man grandpa shoes

grandpa shoes

This all stemmed from this post that I made:

Four pairs of shoes.

Apparently I am not brand loyal....

sqIM1Z1.jpeg

So Fat @Lily thinks these are shoes designed for old men.

It is embarrassing.

Why is it embarrassing?

The answer has nothing to do with fashion.

It has to do with Fat @Lily having no understanding of the function of adventure/athletic shoes!!

She is a fat slob who has no fuckin' about anything to do with an active lifestyle.

I will go through each pair of these shoes with more information.

And Fat @Lily can tell you how it does not bother her. How the shoes are "old man" shoes, or are not fashionable. And she will reassure you again and again that she is not upset.

But I know.

I know what this will do to her.

I know.

Fat @Lily.

I know.

Fine, I'll be the one who says it...
There's nothing wrong with "old man" shoes.
I like my pull-on Sketchers.
Comfortable as fuck. Good quality.

As for traditional laced gear- I have a pair of Dockers for occasions where somewhat less casual footwear is appropriate, and of course for everything else I have my tactical-style boots from Bates.

I vastly prefer the Sketchers and wear them most of the time.

Fight me.

I probably have 40-50 pairs of shoes.

I am sure a few of those could be considered "old man" shoes.

But the next pair that Fat @Lily thought were old man shoes.....

Dude! I don't have 40-50 of *anything* clothes related.

At the risk of getting personal...
...does the hoarder gene happen to run in your family?
:Alarming:

I do not think I have too many pairs...

I would estimate...

8 pairs of dress shoes...between black, burgundy, brown and a few different styles, 8 is not much

10 pairs of casual shoes of different styles and colours.

2 pairs of baseball shoes.

2 pairs of umpire shoes.

2 pairs of work shoes (safety toe shoes, but look like casual dress shoes)

5 pairs of street running shoes

2 pairs of hiking shoes

3 pairs of trail running shoes

1 pair of court high cut shoes

1 pair of court low cut shoes

1 pair of water shoes

3 pairs of sandals

2 pairs of slip on type (sliders they call them now)

That all seems pretty reasonable.

Now my wife, on the other hand.....how many shoes does she need!?!??!?!?!?!!?

You sure base your self image on material things @The Prowler

Much Greater men have achieved much Greater things than you with much poorer athletic equipment and poorer conditions, Prowler.

ie - Roger Bannister the first man to break the 4 minute mile:

...these were his shoes Prowler:

...and he may have had 1 or 2 pairs

Can you imagine how fast Bannister could run the mile today if he had your shoes and better tracks to run on?

Bannister ran with a set of clodhoppers that may have slowed him down as much as 10 seconds.

I have 3 but I am on a fixed income for some years now. If it's a choice between meat and shoes I will go with meAt.

@The Prowler buys 100 brand name shoes, an imitation World Series belt & bats used by professional baseball players to enhance his self image. Yet he is unaware that these athletic companies play into his desires & cater to his fantasies.. In the process he lives vicariously through these stars he is trying to emulate.
