I would never go up in a balloon unless I had a parachute strapped to my back.
Ten years back I wanted to get into motorgliding... paragliding with a motor unit.
I could have afforded a used but tested unit at the time and many weeks of instruction, but not enough to get a fail-safe parachute....so I turfed the idea.
A parachute wouldn't have mattered much in low altitudes but I like to get high...
