Just refuting the idiot statement that I cannot afford to donate here.

If @Bastard Factory posts the donation and expense details of this site and he is not making a profit, then I will certainly pay my share.

It is just spending money I have around the house. I am simply showing that suggesting that I cannot afford to donate to this site is a stupid thing to say.

Why is that so difficult for you to follow, Fatso?

ohghjh4.jpg

Because it exposes their jealously and pettiness.

And their lack of empathy for their "friends" on this site.

Imagine trying to insult someone over their floor coverings. Seriously, imagine doing that. It is petty and dumb. Now imagine doing it in front of someone like Senile @Joe who lives in a small government-subsidized one bedroom apartment. Imagine how it makes him feel!!

She is wrong. I post pictures to show them that they are wrong. Well, sometimes, like the one above, just to mock them.

I attack them on subconscious levels too. They are all very troubled by my messaging.

Over 57,000 posts.

How long can you hide?

You understand that owning stock means you own a percentage of the company. i.e. A percentage of the hard assets like real estate and equipment. And a percentage of the I.P. and operations.

The problem with you is that you do not understand.

The only thing that would suffer with a devalued CAD is cash investments like GICs, etc..

I saved and invested wisely so now I do not have to worry about how I spend my money.

You go on and on about $120K.

That is a drop in the bucket.
You should sell some of that stuff and make a generous donation to the community.

He posted pics of all the games he has to prove he's a dork. We already knew that.

Exciting people work on puzzles for fun!!! It's like many high octane hobbies.
I used to do puzzles decades ago. The Schimmel and Seascapes were my favorite.

Sure you are.

Here's some vintage 1950s Parkhurst Hockey cards I bought recently @Alticus :

btyWWa3i_o.jpg

These aren't High Grade or Super expensive. I bought them below book value.

Mostly Hall of Famers.

Left to Right - Ted Kennedy, George Armstrong Bill Gadsby, Cal Gardner Gus Kyle, Moe Henderson, Red Kelly, Leo Boivin

The smaller ones are from the first 1951-52 set Parkurst ever made. And they're not too common, somewhat rare to find in presentable condition. Maybe 10,000 sets or fewer were printed?

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

Actually I'm a bit surprised that they weren't assigned higher grades since there are no markings, bends or defects in any of them. I never took care of the cards I had when I was a kid.

Musta been some extremely well-behaved Kids who owned them to leave 'em behind in such good shapefor future generations.

Those are super cool because they were all hand painted portraits with the player's signatures printed on the cards.

They don't put that kind of effort or craftsmanship into them anymore.

By comparison today's cards look so cheap.

If they made cards like that now, they'd probably sell for hundreds of dollars each.

Hi Joe,

Older cards like that are cool and you're right, much more effort was put into making them. Today's cards are all flash with dazzling computer designs, no real work put in and they print way too many and just flood the market with them affecting their value in the future. You're smart for collecting the older stuff. Back when I was into cards over 30 years ago Upper Deck and O-Pee-Chee Premier were very popular. My most valuable card at the time was a Joe Sakic rookie card. It wasn't too valuable but I wasn't collecting for investment purposes. I just collected cards of my favorite players and stuff.

"Extremely well behave kids" you're right! lol

Back then kids never thought ahead with respect to the value of their cards later in life so they were hard on them. Most probably bought them just for the gum. Do you collect for investment purposes or do you just do it for enjoyment? Also, don't be surprised if Prowler replies with a picture of Mickey Mantle's rookie card and saying he bought it.

As I'm sure you've already noticed, fat Lily is easily the most petty, vindictive, idiot on here, who scrutinises posts with a fine tooth comb and magnifying glass, in order to glean crumbs of PI and scrape together whatever she can to use as ammo against someone.

Its beyond tragic and says a lot about a person who behaves in this manner.

I was disappointed yesterday to watch her so adamantly defend actions which should be universally condemned by every decent human being.

Hi Joe,

Do you collect for investment purposes or do you just do it for enjoyment?
I just do it it for fun & I try to collect on a budget - preferring to pay 50% or less of the catalogue value. Try to keep the costs down by paying no more than $50 a card. Where possible $20 each.

I generally aim for VG (4) or higher & professionally graded and slabbed to avoid fakes.

If I was truly a serious collector Id buy 7 or 8’s. but they are usu expensive so its easy to go way above budget

Ive noticed there are some players that consistently sell at high prices like Gordie Howe Maurice Richard Jacques Plante Wayne Gretzky Bobby Orr. Those are generally $2000 and up….each. Id rather find a deal or steal on those before paying xtra high prices like that

The cards im really interested in that are truly rare & antique are the 1909/10/11 Imperial Tobacco set. At minimum a single card costs $400. Ive been looking for an ‘affordable’ Cyclone Taylor card from that set but the lowest price ive seen is $2000 and usu not great condition.

Here is 1 in good shape but they want a lot of money for it like $40,000?

Why are you not playing Bingo down at your local Knights of Columbus?

Live it up instead of hoarding gold and toilet paper and posting on "troll" boards.

I try to avoid spending too much because if the economy tanks those kind of things could become worthless.

That's true. The way things are financially these days for most people it's hard to come up with enough extra cash to invest in these collectibles. You're a smart collector being frugal.

Addiction eh @Aylana ?

But maybe next year ill go for a vacation to Hawaii or Europe.

Vacations are expensive tho & you can burn thru yer savings pretty fast

I suspect I’ll need some lucrative side hustles before taking on those ‘burn a hole through the wallet’ adventures.

Anybody can go to an atm and dispense with wads of cash on a line of credit.

Why dont you post pics of your supposed hockey card or coin collection instead?

Id like to see some pics of your topps hockey collection from 1954 or so

Thats why vintage hockey cards are still affordable…. Because you Yanks havent ‘discovered’ them yet.

But you probably heard if these names that Topps made with a similar theme

Hand tinted in color with the signatures

But baseball cards aint my thang except the early vintage tobacco cards from 120 years ago.
