Getting rid of the chronically toxic whiners is a positive step forward, imho.
@Flynn added a lot of content to the forum. Sure a lot of it was repetitive but not all. There was sometimes a good bit of interesting stuff in there.

At any rate it's going to be a lot more quiet around here unless others step up to fill in the gaps. Obviously one of them isn't going to be me.

In fact, given @Bastard Factory's comments directed towards those who don't contribute much, and my past jabs in his general direction, I'm somewhat surprised I can still log in.

For that to happen, you need new and different members.

I'm afraid that I don't see that happening, even if this is one of the better random forms on the web.

BF has called for different content. I tried that several times. I started writing an off the cuff short story and it was shit on.

I had a thread about different and gorgeous trees out around the world. And it was shit on. I posted recipes from Mexican cooking that are relatively inexpensive and very tasty. Yeah, you guessed it...they were shit on.

Not in meltdown, designed for the shit, but on the upper boards. I gave up. Perhaps with fewer posters shitting everywhere, there may be more content posted on the upper boards. I can't say I know. I do hope.

But I didn't want to continue posting different content when all people do is act like children. It is discouraging.

Anything is possible...I may start posting on those threads again. We'll see.

You weren't in his face talking shit. I don't think you're a target unless you decide to make yourself one.

I think a thread about Greece from someone living there on the upper boards would be fascinating. The good, the bad and the ugly. I would include some pics.

Greece is now transitioning from "on season and hot" to "off season and cooler" in the past week.

Tourists are mostly gone as is the dry unrelenting heat. After literally months with zero rain, we've had several wet days which was much needed to rehydrate the plants and wash away all the dust and dirt that built up over the summer.

It's obviously a Mediterranean climate. We have one the same thing in CA. It's nice when the rains return, but it's also nice having predictable weather.

Mrs. Cousin who has been to Greece before has commented on the easier access they’ve had given there semi past peak tourist season. She posted a couple pics yesterday of the changing of the guard at the tomb and mentioned she’d never been so close to the action

Seems most travelers are vacationing from June to August...best time to avoid, imo. Too hot and overcrowded everywhere.

Is that like a temporary ban? Or final?

4 of those will be missed by me
I know your question wasn't directed at me, or perhaps anyone in particular, but as a retired fake doctor with a fair amount of experience dealing with the general public as well as having a useless college minor degree in psychology from over 40 years ago, I'll go out on a limb and say that the answer to your question isn't quite so simple, as the one person with all the buttons probably doesn't even know.

At this time, it's probably safe to assume the bans are considered permanent, but emotions can run high, and over time there might be a feeling of, well if not "regret", at least enough of a vague sort of uneasiness that such a drastic action may have been unnecessary, and one or more accounts will be returned to normal status.

At least that's my take on it which isn't actually worth the time you spent reading it.

My virtually next door rv park has been very busy since school started, the empty nesters enjoying the quiet ocean front.

Yeah, I'm guessing all the snowbirds from the Northern parts of the US and parts of Canada are heading south.

It's a totally different place when the tourists clear out. From the overcrowded beaches, to the high volume of traffic on the roads, to the misbehaved chronically barking dogs, to the overflowing trash containers in our community from all the AirBnb transients, it's now quiet and peaceful. It will be that way for another 6 months or so.

If people were smarter, except for those who like to bake in the sun all day long while debating if they're going to get their feet wet in the ocean, they'd do all the touristy stuff now.

What we have here is a case of a few members who have decided in their minds that BF's words carry no weight with them because they're contributors and BF isn't here all of the time to catch them breaking rules. They also know that we want new members to join. 'If BF needs new members than he will never ban any of us.' is their mentality. They exploited that and just decided to do whatever the hell they pleased.

I think it's more of the "I'll get away with what I can" because BF isn't here all the time.

Most of those that were banned, but not all, couldn't be bothered with posting any other content on the upper boards.
