They could have of course, but that's not the way it is supposed to work, caucus means to work together with shared goals. Like a Trade Union. I think we can agree Republicans are better trained to march in lock step with the party leaders, which of course is Dear Leader Trump these days. One of Democrat's issues is the ability for members to have slightly different opinions on some issues without the dire threat of being ostracized and primaried. Which is how it is all supposed to work, there is a reason Congress was set up with 535 sitting members, to reflect the plurality of ideas and opinions of all Americans.

Actually I thought Harris became more likeable and trustworthy as this campaign progressed while Trump became more sinister, less likeable. His racism & dislike of minorities became evident with every passing speech.

In a true democracy how does anyone 'let' or 'not let' the POTUS do anything related to running for office.

Why is it honest to stay quiet? I think the absolute biggest problem in US politics is the 2=party system. Why are there only 2 parties? There are more than 2 ways of looking at any issue.

Portugal has 8 or 9 official parties. And in my opinion, we are imperfect as hell, but far better overall than the US.
