Actually, most people could afford to stay. It would just mean having to make some pretty big trade offs which most people are not interested in making. They've looked at what they value and moved where that is best. For instance California has a massive poverty problem, by far the largest in the country, but the poor get government handouts so they stay. The well to do can afford it so they mostly stay even if more and more are leaving for states which better fit their needs/wants. It is the middle class which democrat policies chase out of this state in droves.
Why wouldn't they? They can easily get a far better quality of life in dozens of other states.

The poverty rate is a problem, no doubt. It's actually decreased by 3% from 2018 recent data shows.

Dumb ass. The poor stay. The middle class has the resources to move and generally do move. They could stay but decide the trade offs aren't worth it and that they can have a far higher quality of life, better schools for their kids (Democrats have caused California public schools to fall from #1 in the country to 49th in the country), and just is a better fit for their needs.
To compare the population of poor people in this state is skyrocketing because the welfare magnet is real and highly motivating for the poor and the lazy.

Cant afford to stay? Of course I could if I wanted to pour all my money into a house payment. Besides, we all know I make way more than you and you afford to live there. That means it would be easy peasy for me. I'd go to Florida first though. I could use all the money from income tax free Florida to have an extra vacation anywhere I wanted.

My wife makes about $150K/yr so we could easily live there, but we wouldnt be able to do all the other things we like to do.

Newscum's latest stupidity is that he announced he will use emergency powers (as in not a legally passed law) to require all K-12 students to be vaccinated in order for them to go to school. The problem? The FDA still hasn't approved any vaccines for children under 12 so it would be illegal to give it to them.

I have been in many other states. I would still rather live in California. I cannot stand the climate in most other states.
