Most of the furniture in my apartment is 2nd hand or what people threw out @Dove. A' lotta older furniture is better quality than the new stuff they sell now anyway.

If I was really interested/ determined to buy furniture it'd have to be really special high quality 1 of a kind maybe antique collector kind. Stuff I wouldn't throw out or recycle. I wouldn't blow a pile of money on cheap pre fab furniture from Home Depot or IKEA. That's sucha waste'a money.

Anyway there's no shame in being poor. One time my credit score was only 420 out of 900 & I was close to going bankrupt tho I never did. I was heavily in debt & on the bottom of society. Had a job but the GFC came along & I lost it all. Managed to climb back on my feet but I lost it all again in the Pandemic. Im more stable since. Still working tho Im semi retired now. Plan to keep on working pt maybe start a side hustle or small business next year.

It's quite easy to lose it all or blow ones savings. Shit happens. Black swan events etc. And it's easy to take things for granted & become too sumg or complacent. Thats what Hard Times taught me!

I love old furniture. Its built better. I also like having things i redid myself because I can make it how I want it.

Why throw out perfect good furniture I can make look cool and buy all new shit? We already just had a brand new roof put on, a new HVAC, a new sump pump system, all new kitchen appliances and a chimney repair done and we still have to get new windows installed and flooring put in.

I much prefer finding older pieces and doing them myself.

I have no issues with poor people. I struggled most of my life. So I know that someone struggling financially is stretching money to eat. They aren't buying items for hobbies. They just simply cannot afford it. They mostly do what you just said.....grab old furniture people have either given them or tossed or stuff they find in thrift and keep it as is. There is nothing wrong with that, its just reality. If you are struggling and have any kids, you are not going to drop a few hundred dollars buy all the stuff you'd need to refinish a dresser......you arent even worried about that.

IM not the one poor shaming anyone. In fact, im doing a friends table for free because she is freshly divorced and struggling and cannot afford to do it herself or buy a new one. She doesnt need the additional worry and she can't afford it. Its just her situation right now. Just because a person can't afford to do something doesn't mean should feel SHAME for that. Liberals always ick me the fuck out with their hoity toity opinions about the poor and the working classes. Its gross. This is why I laugh when Prowler busts in and starts using wealth to beat people over the head.....most of the time, they deserve it.

We are lucky in that we currently have no mortgage, no rent, and we make decent money. We just pay property tax, insurance and car payment. And we just got a new car a few months ago. If we had mortgage or rent, we would be much tighter but still good.

I definately have the money to refinish a bunch of furniture and ive been going ham with it. As soon as the weather gets nice I'll be pulling apart the kitchen cabinets to do those and replace all that hardware :D

We absolutely will be buying a sectional couch new though....I dont mess with any upholstered anything and im picky about couches.

We have always been happy with the quality.

Is this available in MI? Or is that a dumb question id know the answer to if I read the website lol.

Thank you, P. I'll be checking this out. I really want a deep one with squishy cushions so when the kiddos pass out watching movies they are super comfy.

Sure.

It is also easy to not lose it all or blow one's savings.

You did what you did because you are not very bright, Senile @Joe.
One easy way for people to lose their money is to become overextended by buying Real Estate at its peak prices. This happened in Toronto & Vancouver. Now the chickens are coming home to roost & the flippers can't sell their homes. I saw all these YouTube videos about those kind of buyers who are in the doldrums in your province & mine Lex @The Prowler

There may be some more deals a comin in 2026 & 2027 especially if the US stock market falls more.

Housing prices in Canada are horrific.

I laugh at the dumb fuck Americans who "flee" from the US to Canada, and realize quickly that the housing crisis and Healthcare system are even worse there.

Prowler and his wife were smart and won. If I needed finacail advice, I'd ask them or Biggie.

You couldn’t afford it don’t bother, if I were you I’d get rid of the red carpeting, it’s ugly as heck

We have one in our family room that my wife loves to lay on. Huge down cushions. And a solid piece of furniture.

Yeah Senile @Joe, like I said, some people are not very bright.

Do you want to know what I did, Senile @Joe?

Do you want to hear how I bought my first condo townhouse and paid it off in under 5 years?

Something about shampoo and cat hair and squish kids would be super dooper entertaining and informative.

But you're too dumb and bitter to follow anything besides Xs snail trail.

You start posting blathering nonsense about Orwell and politics. Getting big mad when people draw conclusions you don't approve of. Thought crimes, if you will.

Do people on or below the poverty line, have the extra money to spend on tools and materials to refinish furniture, H? What do you think poverty is?

Après moi, le déluge...
It was a great game and that's what my daughter was telling me, that is VERY true to the original.

I wish they'd do some updated remakes of the FF series. 9 was one of my favorites....I know it isnt one of the most popular ones but I loved it.

Nah all three of the PS1 titles were great 7, 8 and 9. 9 being my favourite by a fair bit too.

Also its long been rumoured a 9 remake is in the works so fingers crossed for that.

@The Prowler is a poor bashing NeoCon who has nothing but contempt for the poor @Dove . He uses wealth as a weapon to spite but not to help them.

The typical response of his kind is that it's their fault & that is why they deserve to suffer. Hard medicine for them but not for him. Fortunately I don't have that pov & I see the need to have empathy for others.

Being poor is not a sin.

This current 'more is better' paradigm is pitting everyone against each other. It's very destructive and having more doesn't necessarily make us happier nor extend our lifespans (eg caskur)

Btw Neoconservatives are not Conservatives. They share a name but not its values. NeoCons are about plundering society of its remaining wealth/higher values whereas Conservatives actually try to preserve it.

Im not a Conservative yet I see its positive aspects. Neoconservativism not so much.

It's amazing how some people just dont get him at all.

I will tell you this. Years ago when I was at the absolute worst and lowest point in my entire life......broke, struggling, hooked on DRUGS, as a SINGLE mom, the ones who were reaching out to me with the most genuine concern who were supportive and encouraging who truly WANTED to see me get my shit together are the very people some of you claim have no empathy. When my dad died too.

It's the "empathy" people who get the biggest hard ons when they believe something horrible is happening in my life. Some of these people damn near climax over the thought of it.

So. I gotta judge by what I see.

I LOVE finding people who also loved 9. That was a great game, great story, interesting characters, adorable graphics.

Took me forever to kill that side quest boss....Ozma? I spent a month breeding a golden chocobo and another month to beat that goddamn planet lol.

8 really fucked me up because im so obsessive about my games. I had to draw a 100 of everything. And then trying to beat the weapons. Back in the 90s before youtube walk throughs lol.

X was one of my favorites as well. I still have not beat the dark aeons and Pandemonium. I struggle on Wakkas legendary weapon because I hate the blitz ball part of the game.
