I might be a bit shallowminded in my approach to people who choose to be on the streets but as far as I'm concerned, I don't have a pressing need to spend a single minute with any of them. I know I may have missed some special moments and meaningful interactions that may have broadened my life experiences but I'm good with that.

Thats how most people feel and thats fine.

I do what I do for my own reasons. I would advice against people doing the things that I sometimes do.

We threw a party on Saturday and had a tonne of extra food.

This afternoon I brought a bunch to this place that has housing for homeless people (so I guess they are not homeless anymore).

A bunch of croissant sandwiches...really tasty ones...ham, chicken, turkey, and beef.

A bunch of jumbo shrimp...they are big and juicy and tasty.

Broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and red peppers.

A bunch of bottled water.

A big slab of white cake.

A lot of them liked the car and took pictures of each other posing in front of it.

I said to my wife "Great. They are normalizing injecting drugs to all the viewers. This is fucked."

When you show that shit to children and teenagers, they think it is safe. Maybe something to try.

Now we have a bigger problem.

When I say drug centers, it's where a druggie can go to a state/city/federal funded "shooting gallery" where they're furnished with clean needles, cotton swabs, and cooking utensils; along with water, coffee, and juice. Un-fucking-believable.

Not only that, the outreach teams hand out kits with needles, and other assorted drug paraphernalia. What's wrong with this picture? Seattle is just enabling them at this point.

I have compassion for those stuck in the dead end cycle of drugs, but for the love of God, lets deal with the root problem of addiction, not the superficial stuff.

Those millions of dollars should go to rehab centers, life skills, along with training mills to give addicts a trade, and more affordable housing. Fucking Katie Wilson is just using all that money to hire more outreach personnel, so her cronies can get a nice $100k paycheck for doing absolutely nothing. Seattle is such a shithole now, that everyone just goes to Bellevue instead. I REFUSE TO GO INTO SEATTLE.

Those deep enough into their addiction will never stop. Especially if they're homeless. The supplies are handed out to help prevent diseases and dying from using infected old needles and other stuff. It's not a perfect solution, but it does help many.
