What sense does it make to bang the war drums against China all day every day except for the *one* story in which China is given unending cover and protection?

Yes, it is true that the Fascist of the world illegally funded gain of function research despite Obama making it illegal to do so. Trump was, as usual, uninterested and incompetent so the permanent state had a free hand to do what ever it wanted without oversight.

Communist China is still the one who did this, caused the lab leak, covered it up, and so ultimately is responsible.

That's a common maneuver with a lot of stuff... they don't personally do the fucked up thing but they contract with the company that hires the guy who finds some people to do the fucked up thing. They believe even just a couple of layers removed gives them plausible deniability because so far unfortunately they've been right.

Like how the 'intelligence community' doesn't "monitor" or "track" citizens but they do buy and compile all sorts of commercially available information that they'd need a subpoena/warrant to get for themselves.
