Safe injection sites are not needle exchange programs. We already do that.
This goes further and its helping people shoot up "safety".
So what will happen is, people with blown veins will go going so they can have a nurse help them get a vein. So those people now have less motive to stop using.
People who are curious that normally wouldnt touch it because shooting up is scary and off putting to the simply curious will now have a safe place to find out how intensely wonderful opiates feel. So there will be new junkies along with old ones who now have less risk to assess and less motive to go get clean.
Safe injection sites are just that. You go get help from nurses to shoot dope. Addicts already can get clean needles. You can get them free or buy a bag for less than 5 bucks. The problem isnt access to fresh needles. Junkies will still share old ones because...they are junkies.
It's a bad idea because its removing a lot of discomfort and risk from using that typically help motivate people to stop. It removes the fear of overdose. Which isn't actually a good thing.
Democrat voters will typically just claim what they THINK something is....they dont look into it or think deeply on it. It's one thing to have needle exchanges and I have no issue with that. This is a place to bang dope "safely" with medical supervision. They already get clean needles.
And still nothing changes with the stupid drug war and criminalizing and over regulating doctors so they can hardly even treat painet alone treat physical addiction. There is no help or steps to recover. I'm for decriminalizing and treatment. I think it's sad that instead of meaningful change....they are just gonna help people die slower.
Doing their part to keep the risks of IV drug use lower than the benefits. Why get clean. Smh.
