Prepping for my favorite fishing of the year...fall fishing the BIG reservoir.
.Want to get a few extra lures in there to give a go with, but that temptation to include every option I can think of is stretching the limits of my backpack.
I must trim the inventory a bit.
Really, just want to get a couple extra lures in there.
. .Crayfish imitations (Smallie Beavers - I don't make up the names, folks) with shakey head jigs and swivel arm football jigs, and a couple of chatterbaits and trailers for them.
Got a simple selection of topwater lures as well while they may still be useful.

.. Tomorrow I have a package being delivered, the last of orders - 1/4 oz football heads which can be paired with hooks of choice and interchanged. Basically swivel-heads for the crayfish like plastics.
. Monday I will either hike or do a little local fishing then Tuesday finish the Big Reservoir gear prep and Wednesday hit the reservoir for the first fall fishing there. Should be very exciting.

Tomorrow is the big day - going to the Big Reservoir.
.Got to get up a bit early as it's a bit of a drive then a walk in to the starting point. I walk in to the most remote section I will fish then work my way back over 6 hrs or so. Weather conditions looking good but the water levels are a little higher than I'd like due to a rainy summer. Then after tomorrow it's a stretch of rain for about a week.
So not optimistic it will be hot fishing but it'll be great to be there on my favorite fishery.

Today I got up to the BIG reservoir with high hopes but not great expectations.
. Overall I should not be too disappointed since it was what I would call a typical mid September day.
9 caught 3 got off.
What made it a little more fun was that I brought along some topwater baits and though I didn't see much in the way of breakers or topwater activity, I tied on a Sexy Dawg Jr in black which I had included only the night before and it generated about 8 strike, 5 hookups and 4 catches. Naturally the best one got off, but oh well.
. Wonderful to be at my favorite fishery.
