How much does it cost to run this forum

Seems like I'm one of only a few members who post here fairly regularlly that isn't a forum supporter.

Obviously I'm not counting all those fake usernames that are designed to make this place look busier than it really is.

Anyway assuming that most of the regulars have really donated and it's not a made up thing like so many other details attached to a members profile, I don't want to be a freeioader and keep my wallet closed while everyone else has ponied up.

Especially if it costs more to operate this place than the funds that have been donated.

So @Bastard Factory please provide an accounting or a so-called "net worth statement"and if you're in the red I will make a generous donation.

He tried what? To get an accounting before handing his cash to a stranger that might not even use it for its stated purpose?

I had no issues donating. I've done my own boards in the past and I always appreciated the help. What he does with it is his business.

i suppose that's another way of looking at it. You don't care if you're helping covering forum costs or supporting the owners living expenses. Fair enough.

I just don't ever recall other forums accepting donations.

Word on the street is that Bastard Factory makes a tidy little profit every month from scamming the Site Supporters like myself.

But I write it off as a business expense, so I am actually making a huge profit the more I donate. At least that is what my Accountant (Senile @Joe) tells me...

It doesn't work that way. Business expenses (including qualified donations) reduce your taxable income so you pay less tax to the State and Federal Government. You no longer have those funds that went to pay expenses. You don't "make more profit" rather you're spending that money not putting it in the bank which is why it isn't taxed.

At the end of the day if you didn't have as many business expenses and didn't make charitable donations you'd have a higher tax bill but you'd end up with more money in your pocket.

Additionally since this forum is obviously not a legitimate write off you're committing tax fraud and in an audit you'd be penalized and fined more than you saved in taxes.
