I've got some jewish ancestry. My great grandfather got himself and his family out of Poland before the Germans rolled into town. My dad always describes him as a brave man who saved his family. My grandfather always maintained that Anne Frank was his sister's niece and they visited her on occasion in the attic hideout. He was even mentioned in her diary as he would occasionally bring pork shish kebabs from the local butcher.
So "ethnically" there's some jew in me. Enough to give me a good start in life, born into money and having the smarts and wherewithall to become the stereotypical wealthy jewish doctor with the hot wife, fancy cars and expensive house in an upscale neighborhood filled with professionals and spoiled snotty kids.
I'm not religiously jewish. I'm athiest by nature, and don't recognize or celebrate any of the jew holidays. I don't even know the difference between Yom Kippor or Roshashshana. Except for funerals or weddings where not wearing a yamaka is considered rude, I never wore one and I feel stupid when I have to. My hair has never been braided. I detest the ridiculous concept of religion or a higher power and consider it to be offensively stupid and idiotic.
