I can understand you, I absolutely respect it, but... it can also give him the signal that you might not like him enough. Or, maybe he chose a restaurant totally out of your budget... And I can tell you that for a man it feels good to pay for her, if he really likes her. Luckily I have always been in the position that I could affort it, but still....
