And that's how it should be; hyperfocusing on what you are, instead of developing who you are, is reductionist in extremis. And when it requires external validation, to the point of trying to compel other people to lie about objective facts, then it's dangerous to the individual who is doing it as well as to the people they're trying to inflict their own fantasy on without consent.

To return to a previous point: If gender is 'a social construct', rather than an evolutionary biological construct, then it's still society which makes the identification.

But to return to the premise of the thread: Nobody is objecting to individuals who look like genetic women... looking like genetic women. Because nobody knows that those individuals aren't what they look and sound like -- until they're told.

The larger portion of complaints are about men, who are obviously men, essentially lying about what they obviously are and demanding that other people lie about what they see and hear.
