The Orange County coastline has become the latest casualty of the nation’s unhealthy dependence on oil. In one of the biggest California spills in decades, a pipeline connected to an offshoot oil platform off the coast of Huntington Beach

Bummer. When oil is produced in the US, we dont have to import as much by tanker.

Didn't read the article, or even the headline.

This wasn't a tanker. It was offshore drilling.

SMH

That's not really an article, it's an argumentative essay about why the author thinks we should end coastal drilling.

So really other perspectives on this need to be seen, because the author has an agenda and opinion so they are only going to provide information they feel is friendly to that opinion.

We need to be demanding better and more objective reporting....but that's not gonna happen.

Typically even in essays its required to present a few opposing arguments and deal with those, but these media people never do that. Or when they do, they twist the oppositional arguments into absolute shit, to the point where it's not at all the argument being made.

To be fair, the label "opinion" is in there....all small and to the side lol.

I'd like to see some solid oppositional arguments as well as other possible solutions that are friendly to every side. Seems rather unfair these writers only represent their own biases and opinions and dont use their platforms better.

Yeah sure. You’re a laugh.
Thats the only way you hold onto your sanity. If you accepted that I make this much/yr, you'd fukin come unglued. BTW, I paid SSI in full this paycheck. I'm at $8853 for 2021. That means my remaining checks for the year will have between $400 to $900 more on them. I bet you think thats REALLY unfair!!!!!

Why does the child rapist hold so much envy for people who are doing better than he is

Well that wouldn’t include you Stubby. Maw$ allowance can’t be that much. Any luck at Disneyland yesterday? Suck any cock? No need for me to lie about my car, or my hot tub. You're such a phony.

My gives a fuck is broken as that is an exceptionally small spill. I lived in Santa Barbara for years where natural oil seeps leaked huge amounts of oil which turned into tar and got stuck in the hair of anyone who went in the water.

Also the far left L.A. Times tries to blame coastal oil drilling when there is no off shore oil drilling in Orange County. Just stupid partisan nonsense for the ignorant and low I.Q..

No, it is not cool. Fine the company and make them clean it up. The pipelines (and this one seems to go from the oil terminal to refineries in greater L.A.) are already double walled to prevent leaks so it seems obvious the company didn't do its regular maintenance enough and it should be fined heavily o discourage that behavior.

That said we are only talking 2500 barrels of oil here so, no, this is not a large spill and more like a leaky pipe. Far more than that naturally seeps out in the Santa Barbara Channel every 24 hours and the wild life are fine there so neither is this a disaster.

Latest news: 3000 barrels, 17 miles long, and still leaking. They don't even know where the source of the leak is yet. That's no biggie to you?

Sorry folx we had a leak down at the plant and the cork wasn't big enough to plug it. But like any problem in life this can easily be solved with money.

There are talks in the works about solving the labor crisis by putting unemployed Americans to work scrubbing ducks and rocks. We will only get through this one way, together.

The original article said oil pipeline and there is only one pipeline carrying crude in that area. So unless a tanker poured some over board the whole L.A. Times article was stupid. "We must stop all off shore oil drilling even though there was no off shore oil drilling with in 150 miles!"

It was a ship anchor which got hooked onto the pipeline and the ship owner tried to break it free by running his engines at full which damaged the pipeline.
