Ironically Seattle realestate prices keep shooting up though it mostly seems to be in the suburbs. I hear downtown looks like a cross between a squatters camp and a gang warzone. That is a shame as I remember Seattle in the 1990's and 2000's where it was never perfect but was decidedly nice.
San Diego has benefited from having a Republican mayor as it was literally the only city on the west coast who saw homelessness decline where as all of the others saw double digit increases every year. Mostly it is due to defacto drug legalization. Sadly, we know have a Democrat mayor and a Democrat super majority on the city council so expect thongs to get bad quickly especially with Democrat control of the state government. Now, you want to be in the suburbs or, better yet, in one of the smaller independent cities in the greater metro area so you can avoid the coming tax increases and inevitable lawlessness which comes with complete Democrat control.
