Strangest thing happened, Lil…
As soon as I pulled the trigger, it was as though time stopped and this pearlescent mist slowly dropped to earth like a vast curtain of billowy gauze. All sounds also ceased, except for the slow, rhythmic clicking of high heels on concrete slowly approaching me.
Gradually, I could make out a vaguely human shadow forming through the milky shroud. It continued its approach even as a disembodied voice began singing in a rich, melodic timber. Suddenly, I saw the figure clearly enough to recognize it: it was the angel
@Murdy in all her glowing glory, save for the pulpy, bloodied mass the was the the right side of her head. I could detect half a smile on what remained of her face.
She stopped three paces from me and then slowly unfurled two large, white-feathered wings hitherto laying flat across her back. The singing petered out into a pregnant silence. What remained of her teeth and jawbone mouthed the word “Don’t.”
She took two more steps toward me, slowly bent and, extending her pale arm toward my temple, plucked the frozen bullet still shrouded in a slowly roiling puff of exhaust an inch past the barrel of the gun before dropping the projectile in her misshapen maw and swallowing it.
“Don’t,” she repeated.
“God will save you.”
Then she vanished, mist and all.
Next thing I know,
@Bastard Factory paused the game.
