They’re real cheap. Less than $5. Very few Ticos smoke.

Costa Rica has an excellent public health system for a country of its size.

They invest in prevention to keep costs down.

We in the "developed" countries allow for capital to make as much money as they can off of Americans at the expense of our health. Then other corporations make money keeping on us medications and insurance.

We're a disgrace.

I remember as a kid my ma saying "They would tax fresh air if they could" and the comment remains just as truthful to this day.

They've already more or less privatized water (Nestle especially comes to mind) and I've no doubts they've got something up their sleeves to do the same with oxygen if they think for a moment they can get away with it.

It's scary when you stop and think about it and consider just how much control "they" actually have.... so for the sake of your mental health and general sanity it's better not to dwell too long on the subject.
