Did you ever read Bernal Diaz' Conquest of Mexico? It's a fascinating first-hand account of the conquest. In it Bernal talks about when the tiny force of Cortez was finally reinforced at Tenochtitlan, and he notes that among those reinforcements was a certain "Moorish soldier" who was "sick with the pox."First, that's an American history narrative. Second, even if germ theory wasn't clearly understood, people could make connections between objects and subsequent human illness, DERP.
Third, we were talking about Mesoamerica. Not the US. When have Latin Americans advanced the idea that blankets were used to kill off the Natives in the rest of the Americas?
Yeah, never, PEEPAW.
You dizzy bitch.
So by that first-hand account, it was a BIPOC who was responsible for the horrible epidemic that ensued and not the superior white Spaniards.
