Actually, I've been emptying my home with many donations to the Salvation Army and such, and occasionally I volunteer at a local shelter called Hesed House to help feed the local hobos. I'd rather help the local hobos here than have my tax dollars used to feed the hobos Admin hangs out with out west.

I rarely have cash on me, and I should since I'm a bit of a bleeding heart If I see somebody that looks a little down I'll sometimes hand them a little cash. The last time an old rundown motorhome was beached at the grocery store and there appeared to be 4 or so semi hippy surfer dudes, probably from "good homes" belonging to it, I handed the guy that looked like the alpha bro of the group a couple 20's. He smiled big and I took my 12 pack and drove him feeling like Mother Theresa.

Yeah, I have participated in gathering items from donors for care packages for the homeless. We gather hotel leftovers, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, etc...and put them in zip locks to hand out, with bandages and some other practical items...including socks.
