I think Gary is our resident Putinophile. Gary does this counteroffensive by Ukraine ruffle feathers in the pro Putin podcast community?I'd like to have someone siding with Russia, explain why Russia is the "victim" when it was Russia that invaded Crimea in 2014 and then Ukraine in 2022?
I still don't understand that.

It must take balls to enter Mother Russia and Invade it.I already know his answer. NATO blah, blah, blah...USA is to blame.

However, I just wonder why Ukraine just didn't invade Crimea before and destroy Russia's Black Sea Fleet? That seems to be where Russia is weakest and most vulnerable & its occupied territory of the Ukraine seems most vulnerable.
But perhaps Ukraine couldn't do it unless they weakened Russia's land forces first?
Yet it seems the Ukraine is just as bloodied by the War and have nearly as many casualties as the Russians. Unless Ukraine is also getting other countries to fight for them.
It's just my gut instinct that attacking the Crimea would have been the best strategy rather than fighting Russia on land and in its own territory where it is the strongest. They weren't armed the way they are now. Trump played with them and refused to help them unless they came up with dirt on the Bidens.

However, maybe that is an incorrect assumption?
Perhaps the Russians have lost so many men, are badly weakened by now that the Ukrainians sense this weaknesses and have taken the fight to them on their on soil.
They say Russia may have lost 100,000 men or more.
Just about every village, town and city in Russia has lost men by now.
And hundreds of thousands of conscriptable men have left Russia by now.
so they would def have a manpower shortage by now.
No wonder they're trying to recruit the North Koreans to fight for them.
I know China doesn't want to get directly involved by sending its troops over there because then they'd be in a direct confrontation with the West/Europe who are their major trading partners.
judging from these Mail Order Bride sites, little wonder there's no shortage of women wanting to get the hell out of Russia @realgrimm
Must be at least 1 million + eh who'd spread their legs just for the opportunity to leave.
Those websites are flooded with Russian women these days.
WTF? What kind of sexist shit is that?
I'm just pointing out there must be a lot of desperate (and overeducated/overqualified) women who want to get the hell out of Russia.
And we take so much granted how good we have it in the West.
Life must be extremely hard for people over there, particularly women where they have much fewer rights than they enjoy in the West.
Reminds me of that movie Gorky Park where a young woman is desperately trying to leave Russia.
Putin's Russia just a like a return to the Cold War for many Russians.
I remember this incident which occurred on a Russian TV Reality show years before the invasion of the Ukraine:
...so if they do that to Russian women on TV, just think what they do to them behind closed doors @Lily
So no wonder why so many of them want to get out.

Lily's correct imo, the Crimea is on Ukraines recovery list, but Crimea is Ukraine...where the Ukraine forcings are attaching now is Russia...attacking Russia itself has much more shock and awe value. America had not been directly attacked by a foreign power in any meaningful for a couple hundred years, until 9/11. America got very upset by 9/11 and us citizens stood by somewhat numbly as W rallied the forces to attack a Country without any clear or direct ties to 9/11 we accepted because we were pissed off and wanted to hurt peopleIt's just my gut instinct that attacking the Crimea would have been the best strategy rather than fighting Russia on land and in its own territory where it is the strongest.

Yes and that was big shock, but not fully America yet. and out in the middle of nowhere.Well, there was Pearl Harbor, don't forget. The Japanese thought they could destroy our Navy and keep us out of the Pacific theater.
That didn't work out so well for them, now did it?
Russia unable to stop the Ukraine?
The loss of Russian life must be immense.Gary has been uncharacteristically quiet, I wonder if he has snuck off to Russia and joined the imperial army?
